If you are a foreigner, have a permanent or temporary residency in the Czech Republic (given by Immigration police) and want to register your car in the Czech Republic, change address, name in your car registration book, get new plates etc. at Vehicle Registry you have to have your birth registration number (called rodné číslo). Without this number you are not able to do any changes at Vehicle Registry. This number is assigned by Ministry of the Interior (previously Immigration police). The whole procedure could last about one month.

How to execute it?

At first you have to fill the application form. This application form must be delivered to the Ministry of the Interior personally, by post or on-line (email: osc@mvcr.cz).

In this application form you have to fill:

• Name (names), surname (with all changes in the past)
• Family name
• Day, month and year of your birth
• Place and state of your birth
• Sex
• Citizenship

The application form must be filled in Czech or certified by a notary public. The signature must be certified or signed in the presence of Ministry of the Interior ’s employee. You must attach document describing your nationality, date and place of birth (if it is not in Czech, you will have to attach the certified translation) - birth certificate.
